早前 Google I/O 上曾宣有將會為 YouTube 推出 API，令 App 可以嵌入 YouTube 影片。事隔半年，終於正式推出 native Player API。不過目前 API 暫時只開放到 Android 平台上，日後大家使用 Android App 時將會見到各式各樣的 YouTube 相關影片，甚至乎廣告也不定。
目前 YouTube 影片需要到其網站或連結才能觀看，相信大家已成習慣。有了 native Player API，開發者在 Android App 上只要加入簡單的數行程式碼，將可以連結 YouTube 影片，或使用其互動功能，還有全畫面的過場效果等，為應用增加賣點，當然亦可以用作廣告或其他用途。現時有不少 App 已在底下有一段廣告 Banner，不知道日後會否佔用更多畫面作為影片播放呢？如果大家想試其效果，可以安裝 Flipboard、9×9.tv、SoundTracking 及 Skimble 等看看。
