Twitter 是不少用家與大家交流的好地方，連教宗本篤 16 世也要跟上潮流。日前正式開啟自己帳戶，在梵蒂岡面對數千人利用 iPad 正式發送第一條 Tweet。
教宗日前利用自己 @Pontifex 送出第一條 Tweet，內容為 “Dear friends, I am pleased to get in touch with you through Twitter. Thank you for your generous response. I bless all of you from my heart.”，意思大概是「親愛的朋友們，很高興以 Twitter 與你接觸，多謝你們的積極回應，衷心祝福你們。」。整個過程在保祿六世大廳進行直播，另外有其他八國語言的帳戶與大家溝通，所有帳戶至今已有超過 100 萬名追隨者。據消息指，教宗實際上年前已經懂得使用 Twitter，但利用教廷的通用帳戶發放消息。不過教宗自己的帳戶將會由其他人代發，內容會經過教宗批准後才發出。
