在俄羅斯一間硬碟維修公司裡，有一名顧客發覺他剛購買的 Samsung 500GB 隨身 USB 硬碟有異樣，請他們幫忙修理，顧客表示他儲存影片時，只能儲到大約 5 分鐘的影片，無論影片有幾長都只是能播放 5 分鐘，而其他檔案又沒有問題。其後當維修人員拆開這個硬碟時，全體員工當場笑倒在地上。
原來這隻 Samsung 500 GB 的硬碟是空心的，裡頭放有一塊 128MB Flash 卡，而欺騙者亦聰明地把這片 Flash 卡改成「遁環覆寫」狀態並改動了 FAT 表，這樣一來在系統裡會顯示上正確的 500GB 容量，但當寫入檔案高於 128MB 時，會自動由頭覆寫，所以用家新買時可能不發覺有異樣。 維修公司追問下，原來這是從對岸的中國商店中購買的，而且價錢非常便宜，顧客表示他購買時亦都不疑有詐地叫店員做測試，怎料道高一尺，魔高一丈，他萬萬也估不到容量也有得造假。
