近年平板銷量節節上升，已侵食了 Notebook 及 Desktop 不少市場，作為另類的上網及娛樂裝置。平板用的面板更在 10 月開始超越了 Notebook，即代表平板市場的需求更高。
根據市場調查機構 NPD DisplaySearch 的最新報告指出，今年 10 月平板所採用的面板付運量達到 1,870 萬片，比起 Notebook 面板數量只有 1,690 萬片還要多約 180 萬，亦是首次超越後者。除了平板有更大的市場需求外，因為 Notebook 要轉用新設計以配合 Windows 8，所以對於面板的採購數量略減。
以目前的趨勢去推斷，未來平板的付運量只會愈來愈多。由於平板廠商遠高於 Notebook，尤其是中國市場。儘管如此，Notebook 並不會因此而消失，始終兩者用途不大相同，將會各自發展。
