早前浙江省發新聞稿，表示將會把省會杭州打造成無線城市，新計劃是延續2007年開始的無線上網計劃，為市民和遊客提供免費的互聯網服務。
新計劃將會在杭州的旅遊景點、廣場、交通樞紐和公共機關設立超過2千過Wi-Fi熱點，市民只要搜尋「i-hangzhou」就可以連線。今次計劃的Wi-Fi覆蓋範圍達220平方公里。不過首階段只容許智能手機進行連接，計劃將於稍後推展到平板電腦；而電腦連線則要留待下年年中後方會開通。
不過，每個熱點只能讓15名用戶同時連線，而頻寬亦只得2MB，要真正成為無綫城市，在配套上似乎還要加大力度。
