雖然現在的Tablet都有不同大小的型號存在，但iPad則一直只有9.7吋型號。有不少人都曾經抱怨過iPad太大部，想要7吋的iPad，也有不少傳聞指Apple會推出7吋的iPad，但每次都讓人失望而回。最近有消息人士指，Apple的確有在總部秘密測試7.85吋的iPad。
消息指，在Apple內部測試的7.85吋iPad，有1024×768解像度，跟第1/2代iPad相同，也就是說開發者不需要重新設計Apps就可以在這縮小版的iPad上使用。經過這麼多次的消息，可以肯定的是，Apple內部是有積極研究過縮小版的iPad，甚至去到一個接近完成的程度，也與代工商溝通過生產詳情。不過以Apple一貫的性格來說，這也不等於一定會推出縮小版的iPad。

Any designer worth their salt knows that physical and working prototype is the way to know whether a design works. You need to hold it in your hand, no amount of cad will replace prototype in product design.
