現時大部份 Netbook 均用上 Intel Atom 處理器，因擔心 Atom 處理器會威脅低階 Notebook 處理器市場，即使 Atom 在 Nettop 平台已有雙核心版本，Netbook 一直只可使用單核心版 Atom 處理器。隨近日 Netbook 市場被類 iPad 產品所浸蝕，Intel 終為 Netbook 推出首款雙核心 Atom 處理器 ─ Atom N550 處理器，令用戶可在 Netbook 小巧外形不變的前提下，獲得速度更快、反應更佳的流動上網體驗，跟單核心 Intel Atom N450 處理器 Netbook 相比，它可支援 DDR3 記憶體及具有持久電池壽命。採用雙核心 Intel Atom 處理器的 Netbook即日起陸續推出市場，當中包括 Acer、ASUS、Fujitsu、Lenovo、LG、Samsung、MSI 和 Toshiba 等。
