根據市場調查公司BCN Inc.資料顯示,SONY Walkman 播放器在日本市場上銷量首次超過Apple iPod。根據銷量,SONY Walkman 在播放器市場上的佔有率升至43% , 首次超過iPod的42.1%。BCN 表示,由2005年1月以來,Apple iPod 播放器一直保持日本市場NO.1。此外，由於iPhone支援音樂播放功能,因此搶走了部分iPod客戶，反觀SONY則透過擴充產品線成功提高自己的市佔率，正式登上 NO.1 寶座。雖然Apple 暫時跌落第2位，不過BCN表示,Apple極有可能在9月9日的 Rock and roll 大會上推出新款 iPod 機種，能否搶回播放器市埸的一哥地位，大家不妨拭目以待!
