自《Windows Vista》推出以來，其超華麗之介面與特效，教用戶又愛又恨。不少用戶反映《Vista》是以往《Windows XP》更為花電。關於此說法，其實一直在眾說紛紜，手提電腦製造商不置可否；而微軟官方並一直在否認，沒有一個肯定的答案。
故此，不少媒體便針對用電問題進行了不少測試，結果亦發現平均 Vista 比 XP 花電 10-30%。最近，Lenovo 於發布 ThinkPad X300 時，於官方規格中亦證實了這一點。使用《Windows XP》時，續航力最多可比使用《Vista》時多出2 小時以上。

由以上結果可以發現，在標準連同光碟機的情況下，《XP》會比《Vista》用多一小時。在使用兩顆電池情況下，時間更拉遠至 2.5 小時。
