通緝犯一般都會選擇低調過生活，但最近因懷疑犯謀殺罪的防毒軟件公司創辦人John McAfee則反其道而行，一邊走佬著草避開警方追緝，一邊大鑼大鼓寫網誌「The Hinderland」。
自1994年退休後，居於中美洲國家貝里斯的John McAfee是著名防毒軟件McAfee的公司創辦人，早前涉及一宗懷疑謀殺美國人Gregory Faull的案件中被貝里斯警方通緝。事件在網上曝光後，被傳媒大事喧染，McAfee對傳媒的所為似乎十分不滿，於是趁逃亡時無所事事，決定將著草生活，他成為通緝犯的原因一一在網誌披露。
McAfee似乎真的十分空閒，縱使他不能長期在電腦和網絡上；但在短短數天，他已經貼了十數篇文章。McAfee表示已預備了起碼一年的網誌文章，以防他被捕時網誌仍會定期更新。網誌內容除了他面對的法律問題，亦有講貝里斯的文化。
